Does it cost anything?

No. Echo is free to join, and browsing mentors in your discipline is part of your free account.

How are mentors verified?

Mentor applications are reviewed before a mentor profile goes live. Mentors who have been through that review carry the ✓ Verified badge.

How do I choose the right mentor?

Start with your own discipline, then read their Q&A answers and posts. Choose someone whose experience is close to where you want to be, and whose way of thinking makes sense to you.

What should I say in my first message?

Keep it short. Say who you are, where you're at (student, new grad, changing settings) and one specific thing you'd like help with. A clear question is easier to say yes to.

How often will we meet, and for how long?

That's up to you and your mentor. Agree on it early: some people check in regularly, others reach out when a question comes up.
