Echo (“Echo,” “we,” “us”) is a social platform for allied health professionals in Australia. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
Information we collect
When you create an Echo account, we collect:
- Your name and email address
- A securely hashed version of your password — we never store or can see your actual password
- Your discipline (e.g. Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy) and, optionally, your career stage
- Optionally, a phone number and profile photo, if you choose to add them
When you use Echo, we also collect:
- Content you post — questions, answers, comments — and which posts you've viewed
- Basic account activity, like your last login time
How we use it
We use this information to:
- Run your account and let you sign in
- Show you a feed organized by your discipline, rather than a generic algorithmic one
- Let you find and connect with mentors in your field
- Respond if you contact us
- Keep the platform working and improve it
We only collect what's reasonably needed for these purposes. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not run advertising or analytics tracking on Echo (see our Cookie policy for specifics).
Who we share it with
We don't sell or rent your personal information to third parties. We do use third-party infrastructure providers to run Echo — for example, our hosting provider — who process data on our behalf under their own security and privacy commitments. Because of where our hosting infrastructure is located, some data may be processed or stored outside Australia.
We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
How we protect it
Passwords are stored as one-way cryptographic hashes, never as plain text. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, but no online service can guarantee complete security.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, or ask us to, we'll delete or de-identify your personal information, except where we're required to keep it for legal reasons.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you at any time by emailing support@myecho.com.au. We aim to handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
Children's privacy
Echo is built for allied health professionals and isn't directed at, or intended for, children.
Changes to this policy
We'll update the “last updated” date above if this policy changes, and post the updated version here.
